Self-Declared Claims

Making a Self-Declared Claim, Standing Up to the Test of Public Scrutiny

While some companies use Berkeley Analytical (BkA) testing services to support third-party certification, other manufacturers wish to make self-declared environmental claims. With independent BkA testing—using widely accepted methods and practices—you can validate your self-declared claim and make certain it stands the test of public scrutiny.

Equipped with a BkA test certificate and appropriate procurement language, you can seek recognition in a variety of green building rating, coding, and procurement systems, including but not limited to:

  • USGBC LEED®
  • Collaborative for high Performance Schools (CHPS)
  • California Green Building Standard Code (CALGreen)
  • (GBI) Green Globes
  • California Department of General Services’ purchasing criteria for Open Office Panel Systems
  • Federal Green Construction Guide for Specifiers (Section 01352 on Indoor Air Quality Management).
