BAA provides testing services
to support low-emitting product claims
If you
as a manufacturer decide to certify your
low-emitting building products and office furniture, you will need the services
of a competent, established testing laboratory - the independent second party
in the certification equation.
BAA is an
approved laboratory for the FloorScore
certification program run by the Resilient Floor
Covering Institute (RFCI) and the Indoor
AdvantageTM and Indoor Advantage GoldTM certification programs offered by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS). These programs are accepted under the U.S. Green Building Council's (USGBC) LEED rating systems
and by CHPS .
Lists of products certified by these programs, many of which have been
tested by BAA, can be found on the FloorScore and SCS websites.
Testing at BAA using widely accepted methods
and practices also allows manufacturers to self-certify their products for
listing on the CHPS Low-Emitting Materials (LEM)
table and provides manufacturers with results to demonstrate
compliance with USGBC LEED credit EQ4.5 Low-Emitting Materials: Systems Furniture
and Seating under the
Option C pathway . BAA helps
manufacturers navigate the certification process so that the low emitting
claim can be applied broadly to a product line or across product lines, if
appropriate.
BAA also
works with manufacturers to create specialized testing programs to address
other objectives such as:
- Pre-screening of products prior
to full-scale testing
- Assuring that supply chain is
meeting emissions requirements
- Addressing various client
specifications
- Evaluating changes in manufacturing processes, etc.
